Dr. Dulce Walker, a fellow of the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists (IALVS), is dedicated to empowering people with visual impairments to live with greater independence. Using the latest low vision aids and techniques, including cutting-edge devices such as IrisVision and eSight, she will help maximize any remaining sight.

We are available to speak on the phone daily from 9 – 5, and visits to the office must be schedule in advance. Look Up in Albuquerque, NM!

One of the most popular, enjoyable activities in Albuquerque is the annual International Balloon Fiesta that takes off every October. Hundreds of balloons glide through the skies in a magical, glowing display of color, and tens of thousands of people fill the streets to watch. During the rest of the year, you can see balloons at the local Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum. Another striking sight that will turn your eyes upward is the summit of the Sandia Mountains, located along the east skyline of Albuquerque. Ride the Sandia Peak Tramway to see an awesome view of the whole city.

Explore the Great Outdoors

Just north of downtown Albuquerque, NM, you’ll find the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park. There is a range of outdoor exhibits to discover, including walking trails, ponds, gardens, a bird-watching blind, and wetlands. Looking for ancient history? Albuquerque has that too! Check out the Petroglyph National Monument, home to about 20,000 ancient images hewn into the volcanic rock. For a more contemporary experience, head to Old Town to wander along the cobblestone streets and enter adobe structures – this outdoor pedestrian plaza has art galleries, museums, restaurants, and boutique shops. Don’t miss the San Felipe de Neri Church, one of the most beautiful structures in New Mexico.

Museums in Albuquerque

The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History will give you a great look at the local heritage with its display of cultural items that date back 400 years. Of course, there is also a wonderful exhibit of modern artwork, including many paintings by Georgia O’Keeffe. Nearby is the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, where you can come up-close to life-size dinosaur skeletons and examine fossils. Only a few miles away is the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, which celebrates the living and historical cultures of the Pueblo people. If you’re hungry, grab a bit at the Pueblo Harvest Café on-site.

Family Fun

The ABQ BioPark is Albuquerque’s all-in-one solution for family fun. This site house the Albuquerque Aquarium, the Rio Grande Botanical Gardens, the Rio Grande Zoo, and Tingley Beach. You can spend a full day here with your family and still have more to do when you return!
